Database Administrator (DBA)

Overview

At Fareboom.com we are looking for a highly motivated and talented Database Administrator (DBA). You will be responsible for administrating huge (multi-trillion records stored) databases in our unified automated system handling everything from flight search and pricing, to reservation and payment processing, credit card fraud screening, flight rebooking, and intelligent remarketing based on machine learning. In seconds we combine millions of fares with thousands of flights to find cheaper multi-airline itineraries than anyone else on the web, we analyze billions of past airfares to predict future price movement, we use machine learning to tailor offers specific to user behaviour, we implement real time credit card payments fraud prevention and risk assessment, and much more.

You must be a passionate learner of the complex business processes, from search and pricing to financial and marketing to bring added value through exceptional innovation and masterful architecture and coding implementation.

How many of these can you tick (Requirements):

• Data modeling and database design
• Metadata management and repository usage
• Database schema creation and management
• Backup and recovery
• Ensuring data integrity and availability
• Performance management and tuning
• SQL code reviews and walkthroughs
• Design, implement, and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions of the DBMS
• Implementation of a security infrastructure for production databases
• Capacity planning
• General database management
• General systems management and networking skills
• Must understand the storage hardware and software, including how it interacts with the DBMS

As we are using MS SQL Server DB as our primary DB – candidate should have expert level of knowledge exact in that DB.

Bonus points:

• MongoDB
• SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Power BI
• SQL Server Availability Modes knowledge

Language shouldn’t be a barrier:

• Very good written and spoken technical English (excellent IT vocabulary knowledge is a must for the purpose of process documentation),
• Speaking Russian is a huge plus.
